Driving note: Water Street in Gastown was converted to pedestrian-only in summer 2024. Parking is limited and roads can be bumpy. Don't try to drive through the core - park nearby and walk. The streets are narrow enough that a big SUV feels wrong here. If you're doing a Gastown-focused stop, the Porsche 911 is the better fit - compact, easy to park, and the right vibe for a heritage neighborhood.

Yaletown: Trendy, Lively, Parkade Parking

Driving note: Robson Street is about the drive-by, not the drive-through. Slow down, let the street do its thing. Any vehicle works here. Downtown Driving Rules Worth Knowing

• Speed limits are in km/h, generally 50 km/h on urban roads.
• Right turns on red lights are permitted unless otherwise signed.
• Watch for bike lanes - always yield to cyclists. One lane of Stanley Park Drive is now a bicycle lane.
• "No left turns" and "No right turns" are common at rush hour on Georgia Street and Dunsmuir Street.
• Blinking green lights indicate pedestrian-controlled intersections.
• It's illegal to use a cell phone while driving in BC.
• Street parking meters are enforced 9 AM to 10 PM, seven days a week.
• Overnight street parking is free from 10 PM to 9 AM unless otherwise signed.
